Car Showroom

An old railway siding, 12 metre high sandstone cutting as a backdrop, was the location for this new car dealership.

The design had to accomodate a 1.5m level change at the old platform position.

The arrangement of the showroom, with a faceted glass perimeter, has maximised the display of the vehicles externally. Offices and stores are located in a central core, with workshops to the rear serviced for a secure yard.

A mezzanine with a balcony and offices are positioned over the core, with views to the showroom and workshops.

A canopy defines the entrance and a large eaves and wall recess provides a "hand over" bay for customers.

Externally the building is clad with coated profiled sheeting and split faced blockwork reflecting the sandstone cliff.
