The stable
block serving an 18th Century listed country house was explored as a venue for a
Visitor Centre, for a sports car manufacturer.
Our scheme used a self-supporting tensile roof structure, which was inserted
within the courtyard with a glazed perimeter, allowing both to stand free of the
existing building and to maximise daylight entering the space.
The innovative design of the showroom area was intended to compliment the
display of the company's own highly innovative products.
A computer generated 3D fly-through showed the building in its parkland
setting before revealing the internal spaces.
The project is now awaiting funding before progressing to detailed design.
